poetry

need

i.

i.
there is a perfect outline of a woman on the pavement
chalked out and underlined as her life never was

i want to tear down the yellow police tape
lie down in that final space

and let her live

ii.
details scribbled on a hospital form
quickly filled in and signed off

escape notice of too many people
the clerk, the doctor, the social worker

she had sixteen hours left

iii.
before the coffin, before the bewildered weeping
she kissed a cold metal slab

opened herself up to science
and tried to tell the story

written on her body

iv.
x-rays highlight the breaks
that pulled her forward

that pulled her forward

down the stairs, out the door
into another emergency room

but her bones couldn't help her talk

v.
i reach forward and touch the yellow
smooth chalk between my fingers

part time job at nightChoose a good feeling of the material click share and copy the linkwork from home jobs for housewives without investment

a line across my palm
leading down the street

needing to shake all the hands

that never knew her
